Thursday, February 5, 2009

As you all know this November Kate will be going to Disneyland for THE FIRST TIME! We are so excited for her to experience the magic of the Happiest Place on Earth and so we entered her in the Disney Dreams contest and SHE WON!!! This year the entire park is dedicated to Kate. A local news station ran the report yesterday and I was able to get a copy. Check it out!

The PiCkLe that lived!

I'm dedicating this post to Jen Mangum

When I was putting up our Christmas tree, there were a few ornaments that I unfortunately dropped. The first one I dropped was one we got in DiSnEyLaNd. I got sick to my stomach when I saw all the pieces scattered on the floor. You see, most of our Christmas ornaments have some story or memory behind it. When I broke that ornament I thought to myself, "Oh well. I guess I've been doing pretty good if that's the first one I break in 3 years." I cursed myself the second I thought that. The next ornament to go down was this wonderful PiCkLe. I have to admit, I think I said a naughty word under my breath. I was so upset. I thought, of all the ornaments to break, why couldn't it have been the dinky ones I purchased at Target. Why were they the ones that had stories behind it? After that, I was determined to make this pickle last. I picked up all the pieces that I could, and did some intense surgery! There were a few tiny pieces that I couldn't find, but I figured some pickle is better than no pickle. It took me about two hours to put it all together. It was two hours well spent. I saved the pickle! (Well. . . for the most part.)

The story behind the pickle? One fine Saturday morning Ryan and I woke up to a pickle on our car with a note that looked like a four year old wrote. I can't remember what the note said, but I think it was something like, "Here's a pickle to brighten your day". We thought it was pretty gross. We thought it was a neighbor kid trying to be funny. The next day we found out that more pickles had been put on cars through out the extended family. The Mangum's got busted!

Now, this is just the beginning of the pickle story.

Later on Jen, Matt, and Amanda decided to show me the ropes of how you pickle people. We started putting pickles on cars then decided what's the fun in that if you can throw them at people?! Terrible I know. We figured if people are crazy enough to be walking the streets at two in the morning, then they will be crazy enough to enjoy a pickle being thrown at them. (We didn't throw hard!) I thought it was fun until I got a phone call from Ryan at 3 am wondering why I wasn't home yet. I then had to explain myself and that wasn't fun at all. Ryan didn't think there was anything funny about what we had done. Some of you are probably shocked beyond belief that I would do such a thing. Yes, I did do it. I will never do it again, but it's fun to look back at that night and reminisce.

For my birthday later that year, Jen gave me a pickle ornament. When it fell and broke, I couldn't just throw it away. The story behind it is just too funny!

Why is it that us Smith chicks wet our pants?!
I must say, I think mine is a lot worse.

You want the true stories? Ok.

Summer's story: It all started in the "Happiest Place On Earth" (which is Disneyland for those of you who don't know. . . And I am disappointed if you didn't know that). We were riding on It's A Small World enjoying each other's company. The ride ended, and Summer got out and strolled about as usual. We noticed something funny about her. She had wet her pants, and not even realized it! Just kidding. Lexi, bless her heart, was sitting on Mom's lap during the ride and apparently had to go to the bathroom so she just went on Mom. Summer didn't feel the wetness seep into her pants. We kindly had to let Summer know that she had "wet her pants!"

Christy's story: Not so funny. My day started out as normal. My friend, Cari came to the house and we did her hair. She was my last one for the day, so we figured we would have fun the rest of the day. We went to Chick-fil-A for lunch. We made plans to go to the mall and get the free make-up Clinique was passing out, then off to the beauty store to pick up some shampoo. While driving, I decided that I was really thirsty and needed a drink of my Dr. Pepper. BAD IDEA!!!!

It all happened so fast. Next thing I know, my drink is in my lap but the cup is still in my hand. The worst part was that I had my phone sitting in my lap. It took a minute for me to figure out what to do. Of all things, guess what I did? Just laughed. I was driving, and there was absolutely nothing I could do. I had no towels, napkins, or anything to soak up the mess, except for my pants! I would have to say that my pants did a pretty good job cleaning up the mess. I had to pull over to inform Cari what had just happened since my phone wasn't working. She didn't realize how bad it was until I got out of the car to show her. She couldn't help but laugh! Her comment was, "I'm not going anywhere with you!" I wouldn't have gone anywhere with myself either. Needless to say, I ruined our fun outing together.

The phone: The phone is in pretty bad shape. It turned on after several hours. But the buttons don't work right. It's a flip phone so you can text on the front, then open it up and there is a keyboard. The front part of the phone works fine. The inside of the phone doesn't work fine. Ill try and open up the menu page, and it tries calling my sister, Kelly. I try texting, and all it will type is numbers. Good thing I have insurance! The thing that stinks is that I just got this phone 3 weeks ago.

Note to self: Don't DRINK and DRIVE!

Dear Summer, Please forgive me for not getting your permission to embarrass you with this photo :)

Cute Moffitt Cousins

Kate and Morgan were sitting down to watch TV and it was too cute so I snapped a picture.

I am 5 months old today

Monday, January 19, 2009

I (Kate) had so much fun doing my last post, that I thought I would do another one. I am 5 months old now. A lot has gone on the past month. I had my first Christmas and New Year.

I had rice cereal for the first time.

I have found my voice. I love talking just to hear my voice.

For the past few months my Mom has thought I've been teething but no teeth ever broke through, but now I think I might feel something coming in. The past few night's I've been waking up Mom and Dad a LOT. My Mom looses count after the 5th time I've woken her up. I drool a ton (but I always have). And I'm starting to get a runny nose. We'll see if any teeth break through soon.

I am starting to sit up on my own. I LOVE sitting up. I can see the world from a whole new perspective. I only last on my own for a few seconds though. I realize I'm doing it on my own and get so excited and loose my train of thought, and tumble on over!

I've been to a few weddings. Three to be more precise. They are a lot of fun, but take a lot out of you. I constantly had to be smiley and on my best behavior.

I got in another fender bender with Mom. This one wasn't bad at all though. The guy hit us going maybe 5 mph. (The roads were icy and he tried stopping at the red light, and his car slid.) I only fussed for two seconds before I decided I was ok and played with my toy again.
Here are some pictures of me!

I got my first car! It helps me sit up. It's a lot of fun, but it catches my attention for only a few minutes before I'm ready for a different toy.I had my first Christmas with Mom and Dad. I know I look bored in this picture, but I had just woken up from my nap.
For Christmas I got my first High Chair! I was so excited about this, as you can see in this picture. I knew this meant I was going to be getting more than just milk for my meals.
Here I am with G-G. I love her so much. We had a Christmas Party at her house on Christmas Eve. This was the evening and the place where I rolled from my belly to my back for the first time!

Happy New Year

Wednesday, January 14, 2009

For New Years we got together with some good friends, and I must say we had an absolute blast. We paid for it the next day, but it was well worth it!

We began our evening with some fondue. We had a Cheese fondue as the appetizer. Then for the meal we cooked our own meat in a broth, and Angie made her famous stuffed mushrooms. Here is Ryan, Adam, Cherie, Angie, and Lindsey diggin in.
Then came the dessert! We had a chocolate and a caramel fondue with a variety of treats. Strawberries, apples, rice crispy treats, pretzels, Graham crackers, marshmallows, angel food cake, pineapple, oreos, and banana's. Holy cow! I thought I had died and gone to heaven!
Here is Brad, lookin all sexy, and Matt and Addie.
Lindsey and Cassia, Angie and Addy, Cherie and Dani, Kate and I.
All of us just hangin out waiting for midnight to roll around.
We decided to play Loaded Questions to kill some time.
Once it hit midnight, we cleaned up our mess, and I just assumed we were all ready for bed. Oh no! The fun had just begun. We played games until 3:45 in the morning. What we were all thinking is beyond me considering the fact that we all had babies (well besides Brad) that were going to wake up in the morning regardless how late we stayed up. Now I know my family can appreciate this. . . Guess what game kept us up this late?! MAFIA! It was so much fun. There were a few games where the Mafia were that good and won the whole game. ( I would like to think I was Mafia that time, but I honestly can't remember.)
Thanks friends for making this New Year so enjoyable!
